Information we collect

When you submit an enquiry, we collect the email address, preferred journey, preferred departure date and number of travellers that you provide. If you continue the conversation by email, telephone or WhatsApp, we also receive the information you choose to share there.

Our hosting provider may process routine technical information such as IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, timestamps and security logs. Google Fonts may receive normal connection information when your browser requests a font. We do not currently use advertising cookies or on-site analytics cookies.

How we use information

We use enquiry information to answer your request, discuss availability, prepare a proposed itinerary or quote, and take steps you ask us to take before a possible booking. We use technical information to deliver, secure and maintain the website.

Where applicable, our legal bases are taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing a contract, complying with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and operating a secure website. We do not sell personal information.

Sharing and international transfers

The website is hosted by Cloudflare and enquiry emails are delivered using Resend. We may share relevant trip details with local guides, drivers, accommodation providers, airlines or other travel partners only when needed to answer your request or arrange services you ask for.

These providers and partners may process information in countries different from your own. Where data-protection law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards or rely on another lawful transfer mechanism. Their own privacy notices may also apply when you use third-party services such as WhatsApp.

Retention and security

We keep enquiry information only for as long as reasonably needed to respond, plan the requested journey, keep necessary business records, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Retention can vary depending on whether an enquiry becomes a booking.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal information, or to receive a portable copy. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. To make a request, email info@socotrajourney.com. We may need to verify your identity first.

Children and changes

This website is not directed to children, and a parent or guardian should make enquiries involving a child. Please do not send passport scans, health information or other sensitive documents through the website enquiry form; we will explain a suitable method if they become necessary later.
